For many years, Vern Dombrowski was best known as one of the finest builders in the Oceanside region of Vancouver Island, BC, where many families now live in homes by Dombrowski Construction. At present, though, he has happily scaled down to smaller creative works, ones which can be designed and executed in his workshop — and much more easily toted away!
Vern has been carving off and on for more than 30 years, for his own pleasure. He has done soapstone sculptures displayed in galleries and has carved wood into elegant designs based on birds and woodlands. But he has also often taken a lighthearted approach to creating whimsical or comical features for patios or gardens.
This website introduces you to his carving. But Vern doesn’t sell online or ship things. Not at all! If you’re interested in one of his pieces for yourself, you’ll have to contact him on email (vern.carving@gmail.com) and perhaps wait a couple of days till he replies. And then you’ll probably want to visit him at his studio in Nanoose, see what he has available at the moment, and chat with him about what you’d like.
